Temporary Workers, definitions and concepts....

The US government defines temporary work is as follows:

"A job that lasts for less than one year."

"It is the employer's need rather than the nature of the job that determines whether a job is temporary."

"The work itself may be permanent in nature but the employer's need for the worker is temporary."

In practice, the Department of Labor will not certify an employer for more than 10 months without additional evidence of the temporary nature of the job.
