Harvest Labor

"Where are we going to find the harvest labor this year."

"Will our old crew show up again."

" We got through this year's harvest by the skin of our teeth, what will we do next year."

These are the normal questions in the minds of many farmers who depend on temporary harvest labor to bring the crop.Harvest labor is the most critical issue with fruit and vegetable farmers. Usually a whole season's work or even a whole year's work is tied up with one yearly harvest.Tomato crops won't wait. Strawberries rot in the field, apples fall from the trees without the helping hands to harvest the crop.

H2A work visas are a very good way to get and keep your harvest labor each year. We have a blackberry grower who uses over 100 fruit harvesters with H2A work visas. The H2A workers want to work every day, 7 days a week. And they work for over 2 months until the harvest is complete.
It would be very hard to find 100 US farm workers who would do this rugged work and stick with it day after day for 8 weeks.
